Here are 10 anxiety calming scriptures for anxiety, panic attacks and fear with images that you can use as your phone background to have those bible verses with you wherever you go!
- Psalm 91: 4, 8 MSG “His huge outstretched arms protect you- under them you’re perfectly safe; his arms fend off harm…No harm will even graze you. You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance”.
THIS verse that tells you God is your safe place. There is no match for the protection of God! Whoever or whatever is trying to tear you down- they can not do any harm as long as you are in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
2. Philippians 4:6-7 NLT “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus”.
Replace your anxious thoughts with thoughts of gratitude for the Lord’s blessings. Watch peace enter your mind as you pray- isn’t it comforting to know that your heart is in the hands of the one who created it? The one who loves it the most and wants the best for it? That is something to thank Him for daily!
3. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV “‘For I know the plans I have for you’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’”.
Worrying about your future? Surrender to His plan knowing that your plans will never be as good as His plans for you. Stop forcing that friendship that God doesn’t want you in- You aren’t hearing the conversations that are going on when you are not in the room. Stop forcing the opportunity that just isn’t coming- You don’t know what’s behind other doors that will lead you to more joy later on! He holds your future- trust in that and follow where He is leading you!
4. 1 Peter 5:7 NIV “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you”.
This verse is your very clear and beautiful reminder that He cares for you! That love comes with assurance that you can lay your worries at His feet knowing He will take care of it!
5. Isaiah 41:10 NLV “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand”.
What may feel like tragedy now- He will make for good and turn it around for you! Remember Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers and held faith through all his hardships and look how God turned it around for him. I have seen it in my own life so many times. This thing you’re going through may feel like the end of the world but He will give you the strength to get through it and you WILL end up on the other side.
6. Matthew 6:30 ESV “Therefore do not be anxious, saying ‘what shall we eat?’ or ‘what shall we drink?’ or ‘what shall we wear?’. For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you”.
He knows what we need and will always give you what you need. Don’t be so worried about things of this world that you want but can’t have. Ten years ago the material items I wanted so badly would be useless to me now. That’s why garage sales exist- for all the things we thought we needed but really just wanted. Sometimes God says no to something because He’s protecting your wallet- because He sees that you don’t need it right now (or maybe EVER).
7. Matthew 11:28 NLT “Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light’.
That hard thing you’re dealing with? The burden you are carrying? Give it to Jesus. He wants to lighten your load, He wants to give you rest for your soul.
8. Proverbs 3: 5-6 NLT “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take”.
This verse is great to write on your heart for when you don’t know what to do next- stop trying to figure it out for yourself. God already has the answers, and if you ask Him for them, He will reveal it to you when you need it.
9. Hebrews 13:5 NLT “Do not love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, ‘I will never fail you. I will never abandon you”.
Financial stress is hard- especially in a marriage but God gives us a promise that He will never abandon us. He gives to us- even if it’s just enough to get by during some seasons of our lives.
10. Psalm 23:4 NIV “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me”.
This one works especially well if there’s something spooky lurking in your bedroom at 3 am. You can walk through life holding the hand of God and when there is evil around you, have absolute confidence that He is with you.
